Come and be inspired, and learn about some great painters and paintings in this fascinating illustrated lecture by Martin Smith, Artist in Residence at Watford Museum. Martin's lectures in the autumn were a great hit with Arts Centre audiences. This is the third in a new series.
The second half of the nineteenth century marked an important revolutionary period in the development of art in France. This illustrated lecture covers paintings from the Barbizon school through the Impressionists to the post-Impressionist era.
Artists shown include Cézanne, Claude, Corot, Daubigny, Degas, Derain, van Gogh, Sisley, Manet, Millet, Monet, Pissarro, Renoir, and Theodore Rousseau.

They were summed up by one delighted participant: "I am not easy to please, and I suppose I wasn't expecting much, but I was astonished at the inspirational way he put across his subject. He is an exceptional teacher."
