Come and be inspired, and learn about some great painters and paintings in this fascinating illustrated lecture by Martin Smith, Artist in Residence at Watford Museum. Martin's lectures in the autumn were a great hit with Arts Centre audiences. This is the second in a new series.
A glimpse of personal insecurities, complex sexual liaisons and unlikely CIA deployments form the basis of this illustrated lecture. Artists shown include Vanessa Bell, Cezanne, Gainsborough, Gwen John, Monet, Pollock, Renoir, Sickert and Whistler.
Martin Smith's art lectures have been a resounding success. In Watford, people have had to be turned away and in Letchworth he has drawn large and appreciative audiences. They were summed up by one delighted participant: "I am not easy to please, and I suppose I wasn't expecting much, but I was astonished at the inspirational way he put across his subject. He is an exceptional teacher."
This is the second in a series of four lectures at the Arts Centre. All start at 4.00 and will end at approximately 5.30. Others in the series are on April 12 and April 26.
4.00 to 5.30. £5.
