Sponsored walk in the Peak District
The FSI (Foundation for Social Improvement) is again hosting a Challenge in the beautiful Peak District and Letchworth Arts Centre is using this opportunity to ask supporters to enter to raise money for us through sponsorship.
Last year 17 of us entered and raised a lot for the Arts Centre. We all had lots of fun and would strongly recommend it, not only as a fundraiser but as an exciting weekend away!
The Challenge starts at Thornbridge Outdoor Centre, near Bakewell, Derbyshire, and finishes at Thornbridge Hall - the private home of Emma Harrison, the Secret Millionaire and founder of the FSI. Thornbridge Hall is a stunning stately home with magnificent grounds that are opened up specifically for this challenge. The challenge will be a 10km walk (or run if preferred) which is accessible to all members of the family in the stunning countryside of the Peak District. There’s no minimum sponsorship amount to raise – every penny helps the work of the Centre, which relies on charitable donations to keep working.
There will be a BBQ and drinks on the grounds for all to enjoy, as well as a great atmosphere as all the entrants get cheered through the finishing posts.
Letchworth Arts Centre is proposing to organise a group of 10-17 walkers (numbers can be increased), and have organised a minibus for all those who wish to take part, with overnight accommodation at Gradbach Mill, a youth hostel in a really nice old flax mill situated in the Staffordshire moorlands by a stream, ideal for walking.
To make a weekend of it, we are proposing spending the Sunday morning locally and then moving on to Chatsworth House in the afternoon. We will return to Letchworth late Sunday afternoon.
The total cost will be a maximum of £50 per person which covers accommodation, transport and breakfast for the Sunday morning. We will be more certain of the cost once we know numbers.
If you’re interested, get in touch with us with your name, address and email at: Letchworth Arts Centre, 2 The Arcade, Letchworth Garden City, Hertfordshire, SG6 3EW (01462 670788, email; info@letchwortharts.org) and we will send you a registration form and runner’s pack.
With thanks to the FSI there is no registration fee so all funds you raise for us go straight to our charity, helping to provide access to the arts for people of all ages from across Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire.
