community activities

Are you at secondary school in Letchworth? Do you have an interest in the arts? Then  why not become one of our Arts Ambassadors?

We want to develop what we offer for young people. To do this, we need young people to work with us at the Arts Centre and through local schools.

This is a great way for you to help improve facilities and activities in Letchworth. And it could look good on your cv.
Part of the Who Do You Think You Are, Letchworth? celebration

Children in six Letchworth primary schools have their own sculpted trees made in iron by artist Christopher Townsend, who is based in the Cotswolds, as a result of a Letchworth Arts Centre initiative.

Working with the Heritage Lottery Fund's Young Roots programme Letchworth Arts Centre is launching 'Sticky Tape Figures from History', an ambitious venture that combines local history, investigative research and the creation of original works of art.

Take part in the project and you'll make a life-size sculpted person – out of sticky tape!

We are delighted to welcome various Letchworth Arts and Leisure Group activities to the Arts Centre. LALG groups meeting here include the Letchworth Jazz Appreciation Society, the Fat Book Club, Bus Buddies, the Transport and Industrial Heritage Group and the Games Club. LALG, which is entirely separate from the Arts Centre, is a brilliant umbrella organisation covering a huge range of leisure activities in Letchworth catering for all tastes and ages.  For full details visit the website www.lalg.org.uk

Summer Celebration 2011

Wow! What a great two days they were. Our thanks go to all our stallholders, the stage performers, the wonderful people at Baldock and Letchworth Folk Club who organised the music, the many people who put on demonstrations or gave rides, the great team of volunteers who worked so hard both over the weekend and during the run-up, the Garden City Heritage Foundation and its terrifically helpful and friendly staff, the Lottery Heritage Fund, and everyone who came to make our summer celebration this year such a resounding success.
